Penile mondor´s disease
Penile Mondor´s disease (PMD) is a rare thrombosis of the superficial dorsal vein of the penis. It is characterized by a palpable subcutaneous mass at the root of the penis or circumferential mass near the coronary groove. Exact etiology of the disease is not known but prolonged sexual intercourse has been stated as the most common cause in the literature. Diagnosis is based on medical history and physical examination and confirmed by ultrasonography with Doppler colour flow mapping. PMD is a benign disease and therapy is conservative in most cases. Proper diagnosis and consequent conservative treatment can help the patients to relieve their anxiety. The aim of this work is to summarise the information about this disease.
