Fotoprotekcia a fotoprotektíva – aktuálny pohľad
Photoprotection and photoprotective – current view Besides its positive effects such as the feeling of wellbeing and happiness, vitamin D synthesis and a therapeutic effect on diseases such as psoriasis, sunlight does have its downsides. Overly intensive exposure to UV radiation can severely damage the skin. Besides the visible acute damage – solar dermatitis or polymorphous light eruption, a prolong exposure can lead to dangerous changes on the cellular level - mainly skin cancer. Photoprotection is a series of measures with the goal of protecting the skin from the harmful effects of the ultraviolet radiation. These measures include: actively avoiding sunbathing during midday hours, protecting the skin of body and scalp with suitable clothes, shielding eyes with sunglasses as well as applying various products that prevent the UV radiation from penetrating the skin (sunscreens).
