Akútna lymfoblastová leukémia (ALL) je geneticky heterogénne ochorenie spôsobené malígnou transformáciou kmeňovej hematopoetickej bunky. Vďaka tomu v súčasnosti ALL patrí medzi najlepšie charakterizované onkologické ochorenie. Tento článok poskytuje aktuálny prehľad o nových možnostiach v diagnostike a klasifikácii pacientov.

New perspectives in cytogenetics and classification of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) belongs to the genetically heterogeneous diseases caused by malignant transformation of hematopoietic stem cells. Significant technological advances in the identification of genetic markers has brought not only new knowledge of the genetic background and mechanisms of ALL, but also contributes to more accurate classification of patients into risk groups and the development of new therapeutic procedures. Currently ALL is the one of the best characterized cancer. This article provides an overview of the new possibilities in the diagnosis and classification of patients.
