Paliatívna starostlivosť o terminálne chorého pacienta vyžaduje multidisciplinárny prístup a teda aj rôzne liečebné modality. Cieľom paliatívnej starostlivosti je zlepšenie kvality života pacienta. Paliatívna chirurgia je časťou chirurgickej onkológie, ktorá zmierňuje symptómy u pacienta s pokročilým nádorovým ochorením. Úspešnosť paliatívnych operácii je priemerne 64 %.

THE BENEFITS ANS RISKS OF PALIATIVE SURGERY

Palliative care in terminally-ill patients requires multi-displinary approach and therefore, different modalities of treatment. The aim of palliative care is to improve the quality of life and make the subject as comfortable as possible. Palliative cancer surgery is a branch of surgical oncology which relieves the symptoms of the patient with advanced cancer. Succes rate of these surgical procedures is 64% in average.
